The Minority Ethnic Communities (MEC) Health Fair 2026 will take place on Wednesday 28th October 2026, from 10am – 3pm at Fitzalan High School, Cardiff Leckwith Road, CF11 8AP.

We are excited to invite enthusiastic and community-minded individuals to join us as volunteers at the upcoming Minority Ethnic Communities (MEC) Health Fair.

The aims of the 2026 MEC Health Fair is to provide accessible health & wellbeing information and health checks to members of South Wales ethnically diverse population.                                              The MEC Health Fair 2026 aims to provide accessible health and wellbeing information, as well as health screenings, to Cardiff’s ethnically diverse population. The event seeks to ensure South Wales’ diverse minority ethnic communities have access to relevant health resources while offering voluntary, statutory, and public health sectors a platform to promote local initiatives. Additionally, it provides vital opportunities for individuals to be screened for conditions that disproportionately affect these communities.

Volunteers play a key role in making the day a success! The following list outlines some of the responsibilities involved:

  • Assist stall holders before and during the event
  • Assist with setting up the venue.
  • Manning registration desk
  • Meet and greet visitors and direct them to the main area
  • Direct visitors to workshops, presentations and taster sessions during the event
  • Guiding visitors to health checks.
  • Help those with language difficulties by translating and interpreting
  • Distribute evaluation questionnaires and assist visitors to complete where needed

The event will feature information stalls, health checks such as weight check, blood pressure, heart screening, workshops, speakers and Q and A sessions.

COMMITMENT:

Volunteers must be willing to attend briefing meetings before the event, and to be available for the duration of the Health Fair.

 TRAINING PROVIDED:

Volunteers will receive a training session to review their duties on the day before the actual  event. Following the end of the training session, the volunteers will be invited to participate in a guided tour of the venue: Fitzalan High School, Leckwith Road, Cardiff CF11 8AP.

BENEFITS: Expenses for travel will be paid, lunch provided.
