MEC Health Fair , Wednesday 28th October 2026, Fitzalan High School, Leckwith Road,Cardiff CF11 8AP, 10am – 3pm

We are excited to invite enthusiastic and community-minded individuals to join us as volunteers at the upcoming Minority Ethnic Communities (MEC) Health Fair.

The Minority Ethnic Communities (MEC) Health Fair 2026 will take place on Wednesday 28th October 2026, from 10am – 3pm at Fitzalan High School, Cardiff Leckwith Road, CF11 8AP.

Objectives of the MEC Health Fair:

The MEC Health Fair 2026 aims to provide accessible health and wellbeing information, as well as health screenings, to Cardiff’s ethnically diverse population. The event seeks to ensure South Wales’ diverse minority ethnic communities have access to relevant health resources while offering voluntary, statutory, and public health sectors a platform to promote local initiatives. Additionally, it provides vital opportunities for individuals to be screened for conditions that disproportionately affect these communities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, responsible, helpful, friendly and able to communicate well with others. Fluency in a community language would be an advantage.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Volunteers play a key role in making the day a success! The following list outlines some of the responsibilities involved:

  • Assist stall holders before and during the event
  • Assist with setting up the venue.
  • Manning registration desk
  • Meet and greet visitors and direct them to the main area
  • Direct visitors to workshops, presentations and taster sessions during the event
  • Guiding visitors to health checks.
  • Help those with language difficulties by translating and interpreting
  • Distribute evaluation questionnaires and assist visitors to complete where needed

The event will feature information stalls, health checks such as weight check, blood pressure, heart screening, workshops, speakers and Q and A sessions.

COMMITMENT:

Volunteers must be willing to attend briefing meetings before the event, and to be available for the duration of the Health Fair.

 TRAINING PROVIDED:
