This year’s theme, “Unity in Diversity,” highlights the incredible tapestry of experiences within the South Asian diaspora, which encompasses eight distinct countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. This theme emphasises that while each nation and community possesses its own unique languages, religious traditions, and cultural customs, there is a shared thread of resilience and collective history that binds them together. In places like Darford, England this unity is visible through the collaborative efforts of community members who work together to foster inclusion and ensure that the voices of all South Asian backgrounds are heard and valued.
