The purpose of the role:

The primary purpose of the Volunteer IT tutor role is to bridge the digital divide by providing individuals with the necessary basic IT skills, knowledge, and access to digital technologies. Volunteering as a tutor with The Mentor Ring  is a rewarding way to make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged young people living in your community.

The Volunteer Digital Inclusion role is to bridge the digital divide by providing individuals with the necessary skills, knowledge, and access to digital technologies. This role is vital in ensuring that members of the community can benefit from the opportunities and resources available in the digital age, thereby promoting social inclusion. This plays a crucial role in empowering individuals to navigate the digital world confidently and competently. It also promotes a long-term digital literacy and inclusion of individuals, and highlights its significance in ensuring that all community members have the opportunity to engage and succeed in the current digital age.

What will you be doing?

  • Supporting or guiding vulnerable adults to become more digitally fluent using social Apps such as Facebook, Emails, WhatsApp’s…
    • Involve with Social Media platform of TMR.
    • Providing basic digital support and assistance to vulnerable adults.
    • Making face-to-face and digital contact with vulnerable adults to support them in attending digital workshops.

Experience:

  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience of engaging  with older people in the community
  • Good people skills; Good problem-solving skills.
  • Basic IT Skills
  • Knowledge  Social Media
  • The ability to be flexible with time. 
  • DBS Check required.

  • Full training is given for this role,where we cover Health and Safety and safe guarding policies.
  • Expenses are fully reimbursed on a monthly basis.
  • Develop skills in communicating with people from different backgrounds.

  • We also have Insurance in place for volunteers

 

 

Time and Place:

  • Monday – Friday (Flexible).
  •  Flexible 2 hours per week.
