TMR beginnings

How We Got Started

The Mentor Ring is a community-based charity registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (1149605) and Company Limited by Guarantee (07472750) with charitable purpose founded in 2010 in Cardiff, Wales.

Our Vision is to improve the lives of people suffering from isolation and facing various barriers to social inclusion. These barriers are often due to poor language skills, poor health, finance, ethnic and cultural barriers, lack of knowledge of or access to opportunities locally, and lack of motivation.

What We Do

TMR offers a wide range of mentoring initiatives, including bespoke mentoring, peer mentoring, and befriending services, with a strong focus on education, employment, health, and community cohesion. These initiatives aim to dismantle social and cultural barriers, creating opportunities for growth, empowerment, and meaningful connections.

Beyond mentoring, we actively organise and facilitate personal development and training programmes, such as digital skills workshops, arts and crafts sessions, and healthy living activities like gardening and cooking workshops. We also host coffee mornings to support individuals experiencing isolation and loneliness, along with a variety of physical activities designed to enhance overall well-being.

Our Mission

The Mentor Ring is a community-based charity supporting individuals through mentoring and guiding people of all ages and backgrounds, helping them to overcome significant barriers to social inclusion.

We believe that no individual should be excluded from active participation in employment, training, education, community life or social activities because of cultural, language, physical, mental or emotional health issues. Through tailored mentorship, workshops, skill-building, and community events, we support education, employment, health, and social inclusion.

Over the years, we have made a meaningful impact by empowering individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds including veterans and their family members to overcome barriers, achieve their full potential, and foster a sense of belonging . Our work promotes resilience, self-confidence, and integration, creating lasting positive change across communities in Wales and England – particularly in the London Borough of Bexley and Dartford in Kent.
