Welcome to The Mentor Ring
Working ‘at the heart of the community’ to provide mentoring support and guidance to people of all ages and backgrounds.
Our Story
The Mentor Ring is a community-based charity supporting individuals through mentoring and guiding people of all ages and backgrounds, helping them to overcome significant barriers to social inclusion.
We believe that no individual should be excluded from active participation in employment, training, education, community life or social activities because of cultural, language, physical, mental or emotional health issues.
Our Mission
The Mentor Ring’s mission is to empower individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds to overcome barriers and reach their full potential. Through tailored mentoring, workshops, skill-building, and community events, we support education, employment, health, and social inclusion, fostering resilience, self-confidence, and integration. Our work creates lasting positive change across communities in Wales and England.

The Mentor Ring is delighted to announce that we have received the Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award for 2025 from the Ministry of Defence for our support of the Armed Forces community. Our policy is to support armed forces personnel and their families in both staff and volunteer roles. World Radio Day 2025
For over a century, radio has been a trusted companion—educating, entertaining, and empowering communities. But did you know that radio is also a crucial tool in the fight against climate change? From remote villages to bustling cities, radio reaches millions, delivering critical information to those who need it most. Unlike digital platforms that rely on the internet, radio cuts through digital barriers, ensuring that everyone, including those in rural areas or without online access, stays informed about environmental changes and what we can do to protect our planet.
Radio is more than just a medium—it’s a call to action. Through powerful storytelling, expert discussions, and community-led initiatives, radio stations around the world are: Raising awareness about extreme weather events, rising temperatures, and the impact of deforestation. Highlighting solutions, from local sustainability efforts to innovative green technologies. Giving a voice to marginalised communities, particularly those disproportionately affected by climate change, such as small island nations, farmers, and indigenous groups.
Radio has always been a medium of change. From revolutions to rescue efforts, from education to empowerment, it remains a lifeline of communication. So then on World Radio Day 2025, let’s use the power of radio to amplify solutions, inspire action, and protect our planet for generations to come. Thank you for tuning in—let’s keep the conversation going!”

Celebrating 60 years of London Borough of Bexley 2025
We had a fantastic time celebrating 60 years of the London Borough of Bexley on 16th May—an event made possible thanks to the generous support of the National Lottery Community Fund. The day brought together residents and organisations from across Bexley in a vibrant showcase of local culture, community spirit, and collaboration.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to MP Daniel Francis, Councillor Anna Day, Councillor Larry Ferguson, and Rosi from Bexley Council for attending and supporting the celebration. One of the standout moments of the event was the dynamic cultural performances by members of Bexley’s South Asian community, which beautifully highlighted the borough’s rich diversity and sense of unity.
We were also proud to recognise the presence of several incredible local charities that are making a real difference in the community, including:
Mind in Bexley
Active Horizons
Morris Mission
Bexley Voluntary Service Council (BVSC)
And many more dedicated groups
Their contributions continue to strengthen Bexley’s social fabric and support residents through a range of vital services.

Launch of SAHM Cardiff Celebrations, Friday 18th July 2025
We celebrated the launch of the South Asian Heritage Month Celebrations in Cardiff on the evening of Friday 18th July 2025, from 6pm – 8.30pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Heol–Y–Deri, Rhiwbina, Cardiff, CF14 6UH. This year’s theme was ‘Roots to Routes’ – honouring our roots and embracing our routes.
The event honoured the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of South Asian communities. Throughout July and August, we celebrated the vibrant traditions, inspiring stories, and enduring legacies that continue to shape and enrich our shared world.
South Asian Heritage Month provided a time to reflect on the rich cultural tapestry, diverse histories, and remarkable impact of South Asian communities across the globe. Spanning countries such as India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives, South Asia is home to centuries-old traditions, vibrant art forms, spiritual philosophies, and languages that have deeply influenced global culture.
We took the opportunity to honour the resilience, creativity, and achievements of South Asians in every field—from science and education to literature, music, business, and beyond. It was also a time to reflect on the journeys of migration, identity, and belonging that have shaped the experiences of South Asians in the diaspora.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating through stories, events, and conversations that showcased the beauty and depth of South Asian heritage. Together, we learned, appreciated, and uplifted the voices that continue to inspire and enrich our communities.

Launch of SAHM Dartford Celebrations, Friday 25th July 2025
We proudly celebrated South Asian Heritage Month with a special event in Dartford on Friday 25th July 2025, from 6pm – 8.30pm at Temple Hill Community Centre, Temple Hill Square, Dartford, England DA1 5HY. This year’s theme was ‘Roots to Routes’ – honouring our roots and embracing our routes.
South Asian Heritage Month was a time to honour the diverse histories, vibrant cultures, and remarkable contributions of South Asian communities. This annual observance, which runs from mid-July to mid-August, provided a unique opportunity to reflect on the shared experiences and rich legacies of people with roots in countries such as India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives.
Our Dartford event brought together voices from across the South Asian diaspora through music, storytelling, art, and food—highlighting the enduring influence of South Asian traditions in contemporary life. It also served as a platform to spotlight the creativity and resilience of South Asian individuals and communities who continue to shape the cultural and social landscape in the UK and beyond.
In addition to the celebrations, we created space for education and dialogue. Through workshops, panel discussions, and heritage showcases, attendees had the chance to explore important themes such as identity, migration, generational experiences, and intersectionality within the South Asian context.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating this vibrant month. Whether reconnecting with heritage or discovering something new, South Asian Heritage Month brought people together in recognition, respect, and unity.
