Coffee mornings have been a huge success as part of our ongoing peer mentoring initiative. There have been a wide range of topics for open discussion as well as more formal presentations.
Confidence Building Sessions were held, along with a fruitful discussion on simple living and saving! Another session of mentoring training was given. Over a number of sessions, the importance of setting boundaries was debated, for reasons of self-presentation, self-expectation and the expectations of others on you. The resulting impact on mental health was also discussed.
Interview workshops were presented by Michelle Alexis May 2019. Michelle is on the Bristol 100 BME Power list for her work in equality and facilitating. She was Co-Chair of the Women’s Equality Network for Wales for four years. She is also an Awards & Assessment Manager for Cardiff University. With many years’ experience in recruitment and selection; interviewing Receptionists right through to Managing Directors. She delivered down to earth, useable techniques to help get the desired job! This session was so well received that Michelle was asked back this March. CV writing skills were also discussed.
Adam Smith visited from this volunteer led charity. Pride Cymru is a volunteer led charity that works to promote the elimination of discrimination be it on the grounds of sexual orientation, gender, race, religion or ability.
