The Mentor Ring helped out with the local women and children’s group in September. The women and their children came together in September for a feast of food, fun and all round catching up with fellow members of their community. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as the women chatted amongst themselves, happy to be reunited with friends they hadn’t seen in such a long time. Music played in the background to entertain the group, while our Bollywood dance teacher entertained some of the attendees with her dance moves. The children were kept busy with colouring in, crafting and fun games. And there was plenty of room for them to run around and let off steam. There was an abundance of food available, such as Harees/ Jareesh (dish coarsely-ground wheat, mixed with meat and seasoned), chickpeas and many other dishes. And for dessert, there were Basbousa (Semolina cakes) and even bags of popcorn for the children.
